A large retrospective exhibition of Axel Revold is not an everyday event in our artistic life. The last time Revold exhibited in Kunstnernes Hus was in 1933, and since then a lot has happened both here and abroad. The exhibition's audience will meet a strong personality who, perhaps more than anyone else, has helped shape his time, and who in his art is a typical exponent of the time.

Revold works from synthesis, from abstraction towards the figurative and human. For Revold, elements that make up the grammar of the painting have been means, never an end in themselves.
