About the event
Several of the fossil fuel advertising bans that have been introduced around the world, for example in Edinburgh, also include sponsorships, not just street advertising. It is therefore relevant to include arts, culture and sports in the fossil fuel advertising ban debate as well.
We have invited Chris Garrard , co-founder of Culture Unstained , a leading campaign and research organisation with a proven track record in tackling fossil fuel sponsorships for museums, galleries and theatres in the UK, to share his experiences in ending fossil fuel funding for arts and culture.
Trygve Sunde Kolderup will tell us more about the background for the debate piece in Dagsavisen and the work ahead. Sirin Hellvin Stav, group leader for MDG in Oslo, will share how the process can be accelerated at a political level in Oslo.
Snowboarder and climate activist Calum Macintyre presents the new campaign Ski Fossil Free, which has quickly gathered several of the world's top skiers and received over 16,000 signatures.
CEO of Klimakultur Erlend Eggen will present a new survey that has measured Norwegians' attitudes towards winter sports and fossil fuels. The survey was also conducted in Sweden, England, Germany, France, Italy and Canada, so we can compare attitudes between the different countries in the run-up to the Winter Olympics, which begin on February 6 in Italy.
Nurse and climate activist Frida Steinbakk will talk about why healthcare professionals play an important role in the work towards a fossil fuel advertising ban and the new campaign Helsepersonell mot fossilmakta.
World Without Fossil Ads defines fossil advertising as:
"Sponsorships, promotion, advertising and marketing (SPAM) for the fossil fuel industry, air line industry, air travel, cruise travel and vehicles with fossil-fuel or hybrid engines a.o."
Welcome to an afternoon where we will delve into what fossil-free art, sports and advertising can look like. There will be presentations, conversations and debate.
