Zulou is a scenic redraft of the the British film Zulu (1964), which is written by Norwegian author Johan Harstad. The original film depicts a battle between the Zulu empire and the British empire in Rorke's Drift in 1879 where about 130 soldiers and 4,000 Zulus were involved in combat. Harstad has written a completely new dialogue, the new story being a homoerotic science-fiction story on loneliness and time travel. The dialogue, as well as a new sound score will be performed by Bjørn Erik Haugen, Hildur Kristinsdottir, Håkon M. Vassvik, Bengt Öberg, Kai Johnsen and Jonas Howden Sjøvaag. The performance is part of Bjørn Erik Haugen’s artistic research project at Musikkhøyskolen in Oslo.

Visual artist and composer Bjørn Erik Haugen works with sound art, performance, video, photography, sculpture and installation. His artistic projects are often focused around TV, film, the internet, computer games, and the influence these media have on our experience of reality. Haugen graduated from the art academies in Trondheim and Oslo.
