This is how I write

Thursday 02.09.21
Slikskriverjeg cover

What thoughts does the art critic have when seeing an exhibition? How does the critic relate to language as a form of expression? The art section of the Norwegian Critics' Association welcomes you to a conversation about the critics work as a writing practice, with Line Ulekleiv, Stian Gabrielsen and Andreas Breivik.

The conversation will be held in Norwegian.

About the event

The work of critics has been much discussed in recent years - especially with a focus on the critic and the increasingly vulnerable conditions of criticism. With "This is how I write", on the other hand, we want to provide a professional insight into the more concrete aspects of the work of critics as a writing practice.

About the participants

Line Ulekleiv is an art historian educated at the University of Oslo. She has worked as a freelance critic and writer since 2005, in addition to being the editor of a number of publications. Ulekleiv is currently a lecturer in writing practice at the Oslo Academy of the Arts.

Stian Gabrielsen is a critic and Norwegian editor of the magazine Kunstkritikk. He is educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo, and worked as an artist, author and writer. In addition, he has been involved in running the Diorama exhibition room in Oslo.

Andreas Breivik is a critic, has worked as a producer and editor, and is studying for a master's degree in art history at the University of Oslo. Since 2017, he has written regularly for the Nordic art magazine Kunstkritikk.

The event is arranged by the art section of the Norwegian Critics' Association in collaboration with Kunstnernes Hus. The event is supported by the Norwegian Cultural Council and Fritt Ord.
