Katrine Køster Holst

22.01.19 – 27.01.19

In the PhD project "Minerals and natural phenomena - artistic expression through rule-based research" Katrine Køster Holst has investigated how ceramic art can be developed through techniques that use nature's basic principles for shaping. The surveys are based on many years of research in the ceramic field. Key questions have been: How do landforms grow, move and disappear through slow natural processes such as erosion, sedimentation and weathering? What conditions does a form's core bind to its surface? What is the emotional connection to the landscape about?

The project is presented as a process work / work-in-progress at Kunstnernes Hus during the Research Week 2019.
